Vintage watch faces have feelings too!

12/23/2012

Can a vintage or modern watch face convey emotion?  Yes!  Sure, you could use a typical emoticon or banal wordage to describe how you feel, but wouldn't the world be a better place if you used a watch face instead?  Well, we are going to find out!  To start us off, here is an interesting piece of news followed by the watch face that best sums it up.

Any Excuse for the End of the World

According to the ancient Mayans paired with conspiracy theorists and completely legitimate, scientific websites everywhere, the world was supposed to end on December 21, 2012.  Since I am writing this on December 23, I can somewhat assure you that it did not. But don't let this get you down!  There are plenty more chances for the the world to end, starting with tomorrow, the new last date, December 24.  After months of panic surrounding the end of the Mayan calendar's 13th baktun on 12-21-12, German researcher, Nikoali Grube is now telling the world that it turns out it's kind of hard to match up modern calendars with ancient Mayan predictions and the 13th baktun will probably end on Christmas Eve instead.  It's okay Nikoali, we know that these are very tricky matters and anyone could have made such a little mistake.  So brace yourself for the new, and much less catchy end of the world date, 12-24-12!

The perfect watch to sum up the new end of the world?  Take the jaunty, all-knowing greatness of a high and mighty Rolex and pair it with the lowly but ever-useful-when-electricity-fails-us sundial and voila!  You have...

X-Factor Necklaces

I admit it.  I watch X-Factor.  I have also been know to follow The Voice, American Idol, and America's Got Talent.  Although my favorite part is always finding some unknown person from an unknown town with a population of 500 who turns out to be an amazing talent, now I'm looking for something other than unique vocals.  I've got my eye on their necklaces! The X-Factor lost a great bringer of necklaces when Paige Thomas got eliminated.  Although I wasn't particularly enamored by her voice, I did enjoy her jewelry style.

This chunky piece has a lot of interesting flower features.  Is it just me, or is it practically begging for a vintage watch face to be added to it?  Overall, she wears it well because she's a performer and it doesn't hurt that she is also beautiful with a nice long necklace neck.  Could a normal person get away this in the real world?  I doubt it!

This necklace has more understated look for such a large piece.  It's probably quite heavy, but it manages to look more feminine than simply wrapping some chain link around your neck.  Could this be worn by an average person on the street?  Yes, I think the right person could pull this one off!
